1, CAD IGF Gas oven knob's scale ring:

Introduction:

Our gas oven, an IGF Copenhagen got two of its knobs broken. They were very difficult to find new. I have 3D CAD designed a new to 3D-print.

Knob's scale:

The broken knob's scales has missing parts so it's not possible to repair and glue them together.

I started with a rotation symmetric body, added groves for the scale.

First prototype. This is 3D-printed in PLA plastic, it doesn't handle very high temperature. There are other kind of plastic that handle heat better. This oven has a heat shield that protect the plastic from heat, after using it a couple of weeks we couldn't see any problem in our case.

After it's 3D-printed all the support must be removed. Be carefully to not hurt your fingers when doing it.

The last 3D-printed scales are done with black plastic filament. After grinding and polishing them, fill in with with white paint it looks like this. The knobs are still the originals.
