4: Removing the outer legs

Today I went to the shop and bought 4 plastic end stops.

My plan is to remove the three outer legs, I don't use them. Don't need that height and they are too weak also.

It's easy to remove the outer leg. The locking mechanism weight a lot.

Now it's just to put on the plastic stop.

Fits perfect!

After removing the outer legs and its locking mechanism it's much lighter.

From 2.2 to 1.7 kg.

Item Weight Comment
Tripod 1.7 kg
Star Adventurer head 1.75 kg The wedge is not stable enough
Balance weight with holder 1.7 kg Gives better control of the DEC position
Camera Canon 6D with 300 mm lens 2.15 kg
Total 7.3 kg

Saved almost 0.5 kg and it's a little bit more stable.
